Maximum Safety Thanks to Potting Technology in Robotics and E-Mobility – in the Smallest of Spaces

More and more customers are recognizing the advantages of electrically powered products and the use of intelligent robotics. Agriculture is a pioneer in this field. Electric machines such as tractors are already superior to diesel-powered vehicles in many areas. Emission-free and low-noise operation, compatibility with conventional and electric implements, continuously variable transmission technologies, sufficient battery capacity for a working day and low-maintenance operation are just some of the advantages. In addition, completely newly developed autonomous robots are increasingly being used in agriculture, for example, to plant seedlings with the aid of swarm intelligence. To ensure that this technology functions reliably and for the long term, even under adverse weather conditions, in mud, slush and sand, and in some cases in very tight spaces, manufacturers rely on REO components that are protected by robust potting technology. In practice, these are in particular the REO components CNW M 833, a fully potted three-phase Du/dt filter, or the liquid-cooled three-phase line choke MD 953. REO offers various options for protecting the components, including coating varnish, a special protective coating or a complete housing. REO products thus achieve a high protection class and a special resistance to dirt, moisture and other environmental influences. Together with the use of durable materials, a practice-oriented simulation of application situations and many years of experience in the construction of electrical components, REO is therefore the first choice for inductive and resistive components for many customers.

Protecting against Floods is Difficult – Good Thing There’s REO’s Simple Service

For us, it’s standard that REO products are designed for maximum service life through the use of reliable materials. However, not leaving our customers literally out in the rain even after an extreme weather event is genuine service, exactly where it’s urgently needed. Currently, a power supply unit, delivered to Switzerland in 1999 and used for many years in Belgium to feed an AC high-voltage test system, is in our Solingen workshop for repair. During the flood disaster a few weeks ago, the customer’s entire system was more than 70 centimeters under water. Mud, debris, and oils, in addition to the water, did their part and severely affected the components. Even 20 years after delivery, REO is now able to recondition all components and subject them to a thorough overhaul. Apart from the water damage, the power supply unit is in very good condition and would have served for decades without the flood. This shows, on the one hand, how robust and reliable REO products are and that investing in high-quality components pays off. On the other hand, it shows that REO Service can reliably maintain and repair systems that are several decades old. That is our REO service – Made in Germany.

High Quality, Performance, and Trust – Core Values of REO Water Cooling

In addition to optimal temperature behavior of the component, water cooling enables high performance and ensures a longer service life of the components. The entire body of the component remains at an optimal temperature even under full load. Therefore, water-cooled REO components can also be used in areas where air cooling is not possible. This is the case, for example, in particularly compact systems where there is little space for air circulation. Despite all the technical advantages, the basis for using water-cooled REO components is trust in their leak-tightness – especially in compact systems. A water leak would destroy the electronics and mean failure of the entire unit. This would result in downtime and expensive repairs. To prevent this, REO places great emphasis on the use of reliable materials and tests all products for resilience in complex simulations using stress tests. Over the decades, REO has thus earned the trust of customers worldwide in the quality and performance of its water-cooled components. Let yourself be convinced by high-quality, powerful REO components with water cooling and trust our products Made in Germany with a clear conscience.

REO Presents an Enhanced Product Search and Intelligent Filter Functions on its New Website

On REO’s new website, developers for electrical appliances and electronics can find the right products for their industrial projects more easily than before. As a specialist for inductive, resistive and electronic components, REO focuses on products specific to the industry with the help of an intelligent product filter. This makes it easier for developers and engineers in the relevant sectors to search for the most important products and product specifications. REO has developed a range of models within its broad product portfolio that are particularly well-suited for specific markets or industries. These include, for example, high-performance braking resistors for heavy vehicles, toroidal core Transformers and mains filters, or electrical Transformers that meet medical standards for critical medical devices. Thanks to the redesign of the website, visitors can now choose between a product-oriented and a market-specific view. This means that developers and engineers who are still unsure about the requirements for the application can find what they are looking for just as quickly as those who are looking for a specific component. Development engineers in emerging sectors such as renewable energies and e-mobility, for which REO offers more and more components, benefit most from this. “Every industry relies on a stable power supply and good power quality,” says Steve Hughes, Managing Director of REO UK. “However, each market has different requirements for the components that ensure higher power quality. These requirements can differ significantly depending on the application. For example, a commercial vehicle with an electric drive requires a braking resistor with a comparatively low continuous power, while heavy construction or mining vehicles typically require a very high kilowatt continuous braking power. We have redesigned the website to take such differences into account and to ensure that engineers can find the products they need or that are beneficial to them as easily as possible. . The industry-oriented approach goes hand in hand with the increasing demand for REO products in sectors such as e-mobility, battery and vehicle component testing and renewable energies. These markets will continue to grow in the coming years. REO is focusing on its entire product range as well as the underlying technologies and customized energy solutions, thus creating the conditions for an easier entry into the newer markets. Hazardous Areas Earthquake Zones

For REO, considering products holistically means planning for circumstances that are rather unlikely in Germany: earthquakes. To ensure safe and long-term use all over the world, REO products, such as column variable transformers of various power classes, are built to be earthquake-resistant. To prevent damage or even destruction of the Transformers during an earthquake due to jerky movements or vibrations, components and fixings are selected according to the high requirements and special safety mechanisms are planned in the early conception phase. The products are then tested for their load in extreme situations using complex simulation methods. For this purpose, different spectra with different frequencies, accelerations and directions are considered and simulated in the REO Berlin competence center. With products from REO, you are always on the safe side – even in the event of an earthquake. Please contact us for more information.

Happy 30th Anniversary, REO Kyritz

We congratulate our colleagues on the 30th anniversary of the founding of the REO branch in Kyritz. The establishment of the branch in 1991 marked a new chapter in REO’s history. In the buildings of the former EAB, REO Kyritz began producing ring-type Resistors. With a handful of employees, but always with heart and a special connection to the location. Today, the Kyritz site, with more than 90 employees, forms an important component within the REO family. For example, components for wind turbines or water-cooled Resistors for e-mobility are manufactured here. The view into the future is also evident right next to the main building, where a dedicated wind turbine produces enough energy for the in-house e-charging stations. Jennifer Baatz, Site Manager REO Kyritz, summarizes: “It has been 30 years since an idea became reality and we started production at this special location. We have always kept up with the times and have been able to set important impulses in production quality, from robotics to vertical winding. . Baatz adds, smiling: “After 30 years, we have not only been able to expand our workforce to over 90 employees, but also to secure some valuable opportunities within our own domain.” We wish REO Kyritz all the best for the next 30 years!
