For us, it’s standard that REO products are designed for maximum service life through the use of reliable materials. However, not leaving our customers literally out in the rain even after an extreme weather event is genuine service, exactly where it’s urgently needed.
Currently, a power supply unit, delivered to Switzerland in 1999 and used for many years in Belgium to feed an AC high-voltage test system, is in our Solingen workshop for repair. During the flood disaster a few weeks ago, the customer’s entire system was more than 70 centimeters under water. Mud, debris, and oils, in addition to the water, did their part and severely affected the components.
Even 20 years after delivery, REO is now able to recondition all components and subject them to a thorough overhaul. Apart from the water damage, the power supply unit is in very good condition and would have served for decades without the flood. This shows, on the one hand, how robust and reliable REO products are and that investing in high-quality components pays off. On the other hand, it shows that REO Service can reliably maintain and repair systems that are several decades old.
