Testing the limits of what is technically feasible and constantly redefining them: with all-electric racing cars, automated or piloted, Formula Student Germany offers students ideal research and competition conditions. REO AG is now supporting the DART Racing Team in its hunt for points with components.
3,500 participants, 115 teams, 24 nations: Formula Student Germany is a student racing series with autonomous or piloted racing cars, powered by electric motors or by conventional drives. It allows students to combine theory and practice in a unique way. One of these teams is the DART Racing Team of TU Darmstadt, which relies on components from REO AG, based in Solingen. The contact to REO came from the students themselves: “ My project is the development of a test bench for the verification and validation of components. In the search for suitable braking resistors, we became aware of REO AG very early on, especially the 156 series. As a manufacturer of inductive, resistive and electronic components, REO AG offers a broad product portfolio that students can now draw on. The students’ request also fits in with the family business’s philosophy: “With the DART Racing Team, we met young, motivated people who share our passion and enthusiasm for technology”, says Matthias Erdmann, Head of Marketing, and continues: “we were immediately enthusiastic about the idea. The students design, construct and build their racing cars under their own direction. We supply the right components and thus make a fundamental contribution so that the prospective engineers can gather important experience in racing situations that are very demanding for people and technology. ”
The students are already asking themselves the important questions of tomorrow: what is the future of the automobile? Are more efficient combustion engines or all-electric drives sensible? How can safer autonomous driving be achieved? The students are not alone in asking these questions. REO AG is also researching and developing mobility concepts for tomorrow. Whether powered by battery or hydrogen: the future belongs to the electric motor. The use of REO components in racing provides important insights that flow directly into product development.
At the same time, Formula Student Germany is an important meeting place for prospective engineers. An ideal opportunity to get to know REO AG as an employer. From internships and final theses to entry after successful studies, the doors at REO AG are always open for talented minds.
