The Vibratory Feeding and Power Electronics Division of REO AG in Solingen is a participant in the research project KIbaroP, AI-based robust production planning, of FIR at RWTH Aachen. In this project, an AI-based approach to production planning will be developed, with special consideration of the specific challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises. The goal is to reduce the impact of disruptions in order to increase productivity and, consequently, delivery reliability and customer satisfaction. The project participants, in addition to the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the TUM School of Engineering and Design at the Technical University of Munich, include eleven other companies and institutes.
Recently, the project steering committee met for the first time in Aachen, with REO AG, represented by CEO Jörg Rohden and REO AG’s Head of Purchasing, also participating. Mr. Jan Joppien (FIR at RWTH Aachen University) and Mr. Julian Stang (iwb at TUM) presented the results of the expert interviews that had previously been conducted with the project participants. Subsequently, we discussed possibilities for identifying disruptions using company data. Next, a universally applicable simulation model will be built, which will be used to train an AI with the help of company data.
