Description
The REO braking resistor D 330 converts excess braking energy into usable heat and is therefore ideally suited for electric or hybrid drives.
Water cooling enables space savings of up to 88% compared to a conventional air-cooled braking resistor.
As a special extra, the resistor can easily be connected via drip-free quick-release couplings.
Thanks to water cooling and its modular design, the D 330 series achieves particularly high performance in a very small space and is therefore also ideally suited for use in wind power technology. Thanks to the high degree of protection up to IP 69 K, even harsh environmental conditions such as salt spray are not a problem.
As BW (braking resistor)
As soon as an electrical machine operates as a generator (electric motor brake), the braking resistor protects the machine from overvoltage in the DC link. At the same time, the current leads to a reduction in the speed of the machine and thus to braking of the machine.
As R (charging resistor, damping resistor, filter resistor, etc.)
The charging resistor is a current-limiting resistor for charging and discharging capacitors and limits, for example, the inrush current flowing into the DC link capacitor. For this purpose, the device must be designed for a high single pulse energy and nominal voltage. The inductance of the resistor contributes to limit the inrush current – here are wirewound resistors the right choice.

In case of destruction, the resistor becomes high-impedance, therefore each series is available with a temperature switch. The specified power ratings were recorded with the resistors in a horizontal position in the air, with a minimum distance of 100mm to the substrate. The power ratings refer to the standard products with a normal tolerance of +/- 10% at an ambient temperature of 20°C.
